SHC’s Autotriz Nano Ceramic Paint Protection

You want your car to look as amazing as it did the day you drove it off the dealer’s lot, but despite your efforts at maintaining that new car feel, the scratches, chips, and stains start to spread across your car’s exterior and your paint begins to dull from the sun.

Your environment is constantly attacking your car’s surface. Mud, dust, dirty rain, water spots, unsightly brake dust, and grime start sticking to your car almost immediately after cleaning it. Let’s face it, having to wash your car is boring, monotonous, and time-consuming. Snow, ice, salted roads, tree gum, and bird droppings don’t help either.

Automatic car washes scratch and mar your paint, and their chemicals are terrible for its surface. Not to mention daily life’s scratches from kids, shopping carts, bikes, and scooters.

Wax adds a good level of shine and gloss, and a small amount of protection, but lasts a few months at best.

Here’s where SHC’s Autotriz Nano Ceramic Paint Protection comes in.

Originally designed for the oil and space industry, nano ceramic coating technology has expanded quickly into the automotive industry because of how effective it is at protecting your automobile’s paint from life’s daily hazards.

What is Autotriz Nano Ceramic Coating? The easiest way to understand ceramic coating is to think of it as a second layer of skin, or an extra layer of protection over your car’s clear coat.

Autotriz’s ceramic coating utilizes nanotechnology, meaning, tiny particles form a very fine, thin layer completely invisible to the eye. Because these particles are so small, when applied to a surface, they seal all its pores, making the surface hydrophobic (water-repellent), but also resistant to UV light, scratches, chemicals, extreme heat, and even graffiti. This ceramic layer is completely transparent.

The ceramic coating forms a semi-permanent bond with the vehicle’s surface, resulting in a surface layer that will not wash away under cleaning or rain, or break down over a short period of time. In fact, it usually lasts for years.

Nano ceramic coatings easily repel dirt and water, which makes them simple to clean. Their hardness helps to prevent the swirl marks and marring that can result from washing.

A distinct feature of a ceramic coating is that it is hydrophobic. When your car is ceramic coated, water will bead up and roll off of the surface along with most dirt, grime, and mud, because none of it will be able to bond to your vehicle’s paint.

Ceramic coating works much harder to protect the surface of your vehicle than an ordinary paint job. The nano ceramic coating bonds with the molecular structure of your car’s paint and can’t be dislodged by vibrations or external force meaning it lasts for years, not months. Rain, snow, and ice are unable to stick to your car’s surface. Ceramic coating also does a phenomenal job protecting rims, plastic, and headlights.

Vehicles often exposed to the sun will eventually lose their shiny appearance because the sun’s ultraviolet rays cause their paint to oxidize. Adding a layer of Hybrid or Matrix 3D can dramatically reduce this oxidation.

But always remember, ceramic coating doesn’t make your vehicle bulletproof!

Nano ceramic coating does not stop rock chips, water spots, dings, or dents, nor does it replace proper car care or maintenance. Nor does it last forever!

Even after your vehicle is treated with ceramic coating, you still need to dust, wash, and remove bird droppings. The difference is that maintaining your paint will now require less elbow grease and less time.

Small scratches can definitely be resisted by a Ceramic Coating and the sacrificial layer the coating forms will certainly help protect against minor incidents that would otherwise mar your surface, such as driving through brush, or receiving small little nicks from bikes, kids playing, or animals jumping excitedly against the vehicle.

Most newer coatings are typically rated 9H on the pencil scale. This is the highest possible scratch resistance; however, ceramic coatings are not thick or flexible enough to absorb the impact of a rock hitting your paint at highway speeds or to resist against someone purposefully attempting to scratch your paint.

So, is it worth it to treat your vehicle with ceramic coating?

YES, absolutely, for most cars. The marginal investment is far outweighed by the benefits and protection nano ceramic coating will provide for your vehicle. A professional application is also worth exploring if you have a high end or performance vehicle. We’ve actually calculated it, and if you spread the upfront cost out to the duration of the entire protected period, you’re looking at a whopping $0.05 per day.

So ask yourself this: Do you want your vehicle to look like it’s just been washed and waxed every day for years, with a deep glossy finish, easy cleaning, dramatically increased levels of environmental protection? If you say yes to that, we encourage you to try out our Autotriz Matrix 3D Coating or our Hybrid Coating!
